I am a home cook so when I say recipes I mean the term loosely, more like "guidelines" I make things to my own taste, sometimes I make a few different versions at a time so that we can all be eating the same thing but put extra veg or extra spice in some.
This evening was a good example of this, I did a "fake away" all 6 of us were home so we made home made pizzas, quesadillas with chicken strips and wedges. with different veggies and spicy peperoni on one and ham on the other. There are no pictures on his occasion as the food was eaten as it hit the table, but got a resounding seal of approval from the herd.
I hate wasting food (but then I am an accountant ) and as there are a lot of us in our house, we have anything from two to six mouths to feed, with some picky eaters.
I plan every meal for the week in advance so I know I wont be throwing away loads of stuff or running out come the end of the week. our lives are constantly moving and with busy jobs this helps me be organised when the inevitable "what's for dinner" question gets asked.
My teenage years working at McDonalds' has really helped with stock management and stock rotation.
I take the days in which I get them all to eat some veg as minor victories and save the more adventurous dishes for the days when it is just us 2 or 3 adults. Especially as us adults eat pretty much anything and love to try new things.
I thought I would start off my "recipe" page with some of side dishes I make regularly, coleslaws, guacamole etc, I can make up a batch and then stick them in the fridge for a few days to go with salads brunches and lunches , BBQ''s etc .....
